Create a German e-invoice for free
Fill in the form or import your existing invoice – as a PDF (scans too), Excel or Word file. Gegenstempel turns it into a ZUGFeRD PDF (profile EN 16931) and, if needed, an XRechnung for public-sector customers. Every invoice is checked against the official KoSIT rules before you download it.
- For trades and small businesses: partial and final invoices, retention (VOB), § 13b reverse charge, § 19 small business, early-payment discount.
- Faster from the second invoice: your company, customers and next invoice number are remembered in your browser.
- No sign-up: nothing is uploaded, no account, no subscription.
Frequently asked questions
When do I have to send e-invoices in Germany?
All businesses must be able to receive them since 2025. Businesses with more than €800,000 prior-year revenue must send them from 2027, everyone else from 2028. Small businesses under § 19 UStG are exempt from sending.
Isn’t a normal PDF invoice enough any more?
A plain PDF is not an e-invoice. A ZUGFeRD PDF looks like a normal invoice but also carries the invoice data that your customer’s software reads automatically.
What is a Leitweg-ID?
Public-sector customers (authorities, municipalities) give you a Leitweg-ID. It goes into the XRechnung so the invoice reaches the right office. Enter it under “More details”.
A validator reports BR-DE-15, BR-CO-10 or similar. What does it mean?
These are codes from the official XRechnung and EN 16931 validation rules. We explain the most common ones with cause, example and fix: XRechnung error codes explained.
